Early Life and Career
Kimberly Alexis Bledel was born in Houston, Texas, on September 16, 1981. Her mother, Nanette Dozier, is a flight attendant, and her father, Martin Bledel, is an architect. Bledel has a younger brother, Eric. Bledel attended St. Agnes Academy, an all-girls Catholic school in Houston. She was a member of the drama club and participated in several school productions. After graduating from high school, Bledel moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
Bledel made her television debut in 2000, appearing in an episode of the WB series Opposite Sex. She went on to appear in several other television series, including Gilmore Girls, The West Wing, and Mad Men. In 2016, Bledel starred in the Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale, which won her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
