STIKO empfiehlt RSV-Prophylaxe für Neugeborene und Säuglinge
Impfstoff zum Schutz vor Atemwegserkrankung
Die Ständige Impfkommission (STIKO) hat eine Impfung gegen das Respiratorische Synzytial-Virus (RSV) für Früh- und Neugeborene sowie Säuglinge empfohlen. RSV ist eine häufige Atemwegserkrankung, die bei Säuglingen und Kleinkindern zu schweren Infektionen führen kann.
Einmaldosis für umfassenden Schutz
Die RSV-Prophylaxe erfolgt mit dem monoklonalen Antikörper Nirsevimab (Handelsname Beyfortus) als Einmaldosis in der ersten Lebenswoche. Das Mittel soll Früh- und Neugeborene sowie Säuglinge vor schweren RSV-Infektionen schützen.
Impfung der Mutter noch nicht empfohlen
Die STIKO empfiehlt derzeit noch keine Impfung der Mutter gegen RSV. Es liegen noch nicht genügend Daten zur Sicherheit einer Impfung während der Schwangerschaft oder Stillzeit vor.
Impfung für Personen ab 60 Jahren
Neben der RSV-Prophylaxe für Neugeborene und Säuglinge empfiehlt die STIKO außerdem eine Impfung gegen RSV für Personen ab 60 Jahren. Der erste Impfstoff ist zum Schutz vor RSV bei Personen ab 60 Jahre der zweite Impfstoff ist ebenfalls für eine Anwendung bei Personen ab.
